AMRICK POLICY AND PROCEDURES FOR CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. COVID-19 is classified as a new strain of Coronavirus that can cause an infection in people, including a severe respiratory illness and spreads through close contact with an infected person. Many people who contract Coronavirus (COVID-19) will suffer only mild symptoms. However early indications are that the elderly and people with pre-existing medical conditions are more at risk of experiencing severe symptoms. The most common reported symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19) include:
Fever
Breathing difficulties
Coughing
Sore throat
Fatigue or tiredness
In light of the rapidly evolving situation surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) it is important that the following Policy and relevant Procedures are followed. BEFORE YOU ATTEND SITE, it is a requirement that you have read and confirmed your understanding of the below.

AMRICK CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) POLICY
As an employer, Amrick has a primary duty to maintain the health and safety of all individuals engaged, as well the wider community that is impacted by its business activities. To achieve the highest level of health and safety, it’s essential that individuals engaged by Amrick participate in this together as best as possible and are therefore requested to adopt procedures in line with the advice from the Department of Health and Human Services that minimise or eliminate the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).*

AMRICK CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) PROCEDURES
1. INCOMING TRAVEL: If you have been overseas, upon your return to Australia you must stay at home (self-quarantine) for 14 days, other than when seeking medical care. You must also avoid attending public settings such as work, school/university, childcare or other public places such as restaurants, cinemas or shopping centres as well as not using public transport/taxis. You should not allow visitors into your home unless they are people who usually live in the household and stay in a different room to other people in the household as much as possible.*

2. EMERGENCE OF SYMPTOMS: If you begin to feel unwell and develop a fever or shortness of breath, a cough or respiratory illness, it is recommended that you call the dedicated Coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline on 1800 675 398 for advice. This number is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can also use the Department of Health and Human Services self-assessment tool at www.dhhs.vic.gov.au and follow the links. In the circumstances of needing to visit a GP or emergency department, call ahead to advise your overseas travel and/or suspected means of exposure before you arrive at the premises so the staff can prepare the appropriate infection control measures. If you have serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing, call 000 and ask for an ambulance and advise the operator of your recent travel history and/or suspected means of exposure.*

3a. RISK REDUCTION (WORKER): It is of utmost importance that you take measures in your daily routines that help to minimise or eliminate the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). These measures include, but are not limited to the following: i. Wash hands often with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds then dry with paper towel or hand dryer. ii. Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth. iii. Avoid skin to skin contact such as shaking hands with others. iv. Avoid contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms. v. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow. vi. Stay at home if you feel sick and if you take medication make sure you have enough. vii. Continue (or begin to implement) healthy habits such as regular exercise, drinking plenty of water and getting a sufficient amount of sleep each night. viii. Wear a face mask, however it is not necessary if you are not sick. ix. Use alcohol-based hand sanitiser for use after contact with surfaces.*

3b. RISK REDUCTION (EMPLOYER): As an employer, Amrick must identify whether there is a risk to health and safety of employees from exposure to Coronavirus (COVID-19) on site. Identifying the level of risk can include: i. Monitoring expert advice from sources such as the Department of Health and Human Services as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation develops. ii. Reviewing infection control measures to ensure they are effective and are being followed. iii. Educating and keeping workers up to date on new information. iv. Monitoring the latest travel advice on the Smartraveller website for anyone conducting overseas travel. v. Considering whether work activities put other people at risk. vi. Communicating with workers who have travelled or are planning to travel overseas for work and/or been in contact with a confirmed/suspected case of Coronavirus (COVID-19).*

4. IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION: If you are uncomfortable on site and/or you feel that the site is not providing adequate facilities or products to allow you or other workers to maintain good health and safety practices you must notify your Amrick representative immediately. Amrick’s national hotline is 1300 AMRICK (1300 267 425). This number is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You must also notify Amrick immediately if you have: i. Conducted overseas travel within the last 14 days. ii. Been in contact with a confirmed case of Coronavirus (COVID-19). iii. Been in contact with a suspected case of Coronavirus (COVID-19). iv. Flu like symptoms, regardless of having travelled overseas or had contact with a confirmed/suspected case of Coronavirus (COVID-19). In any of these circumstances you must NOT attend work until you sought medical advice and have liaised with your Amrick representative.*
